Considering this book isn't out yet, and has been delayed for the past year (was supposed to be out in 2014, then 2015, now 2016). There seems to be no genuine point in releasing the book in 2016, since MySQL is now up to 5.7, and by next year, it will likely be the production standard. I was, for months, on the list for pre-order, for about $40ish (US dollars).
Should the contents of the book actually demonstrate any review worth re-considering, then I will gladly amend this posting and rating.

About the Author
Even as a child growing up outside Buffalo, New York, Amy Lansky sensed that the world was a bit more mysterious than it appeared on the surface. After many years working as a computer scientist, she now pursues her life passion—to uncover deeper truths hidden behind the veil of our consensual reality. Lansky’s first book, Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy (www.impossiblecure.com), explored an unconventional form of healing—homeopathy. It quickly became one of the best-selling introductory books on homeopathic medicine and is now used as a patient education book and textbook all over the world. In this, her second book, Lansky explores the mysterious realm of human consciousness. Active Consciousness: Awakening the Power Within (www.activeconsciousness.com) draws on her interest in paranormal phenomena, her expertise in alternative medicine, her meditation studies, and even her research experience in artificial intelligence. Lansky graduated from the University of Rochester in 1977 with degrees in mathematics and computer science, and she received her doctorate in computer science from Stanford University in 1983. She did research work in artificial intelligence at several Silicon Valley institutions, including SRI International and NASA Ames Research Center, until she left the field in 1998 to pursue her interest in homeopathic medicine. This unusual move was prompted by the miraculous cure of her son’s autism with homeopathy. Since 2005, Lansky has been a student of Gary Sherman and Ellen Miller, the creators of a system of self-development and inquiry called perceptual integration (www.deepening.com). Amy Lansky is widely regarded as an expert writer and speaker on homeopathy. She has been featured at several conferences, her articles have appeared in leading magazines and online forums, and she hosted a radio show on homeopathic treatment of autism on Autism One Radio from 2006–2009. Lansky also served on the board of the National Center for Homeopathy from 2004–2011. She currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband Steve Rubin, and is an avid pianist, vocalist, and painter. She also enjoys needlework, swimming, and canoeing the lakes of Canada.

A Book That Will Change Your Life

We live in a time where the fate of the earth itself seems to hang in the balance, and people struggle with widespread feelings of powerlessness. In the past I've wondered, are the many popular books on shaping reality just wish-fulfillment? Amy Lansky has written the most well-grounded, reality-based book on the subject that anyone could ask for, in a style that is a pleasure to read. She makes scientific and philosophical concepts enjoyable and easy for anyone to understand. With a clear, visionary yet scientific approach, she ties together: current theories in physics and mathematics on extra spatial dimensions and the nature of the universe; an overview of high-quality studies of paranormal phenomena; and an overview of common understanding about the nature of reality in various ancient wisdom traditions. She teases out the common links which could begin to illuminate the hidden aspects of our Universe, including the possible existence of a unified field, the "zero-point field" of physics, which she proposes could be the ground of universal consciousness. She then explores the nature of human beings, considering evidence that we ourselves may exist in more than three spatial dimensions, and how higher-dimensional aspects of ourselves could easily affect our 3-dimensional world in ways that seem inexplicable from our limited, 3-D perspective. For me it was a delight to have such weighty subjects explained so clearly, with plenty of helpful analogies.

Ms. Lansky then discusses how, when we rise above the chatter of our daily existence, we can learn to enter a state of deep, active consciousness, in which we are in fact able to shape reality through the loving intentions of our highest selves. And the icing on this wonderful cake: she lays out a program of simple but extremely well-focused meditation exercises through which any reader can train themselves to connect more fully with their higher consciousness, and truly change their own life and help to influence the world around them. I am behind this book 100%. I believe these methods can be used as a tool to help bring about the evolution that many in our world are currently striving for. I'm about to leave home on a 2-month study trip, and I plan to take the exercises with me. Since reading this book and beginning the practices I have already noticed an increase in synchronicities in my life, and an greater sense of being assisted in the life goals on which I'm focusing.

You are more powerful than you realize, harness it!

If you have an interest in both science and spirituality, this book is an excellent read. Amy Lansky writes in a very accessible way, making scientific and esoteric subjects understandable and more importantly, very enjoyable to read. I love Ken Wilbur, I think he's brilliant, but I'd rather have Amy Lansky explaining these concepts to me in her succinct and clear way. She references her work so you can dig deeper and look further if you want to.

I love how she uses examples and analogies to bring her point across to the reader. The exercises included in the book let you take it out of a solely intellectual pursuit and have an experiential encounter with the material.

Amy writes from a place of clarity, both from the heart and the intellect. Thank you Amy for bringing your ideas and experiences to humanity in such a fun and authentic way!

Amy Lansky's ground breaking book, Active Consciousness is a must read for anyone interested in seeing our world through the exciting lens of a leading scientist and spiritual thinker. As a former NASA scientist and metaphysical scholar, she writes with precision and passion, telling stories that are real, soulful and extraordinary. The author is at heart a consciousness seeker, explorer and activist. Drawing from Lansky's luminous intelligence and keen imagination, she gives methods and practices for obtaining higher states of knowing. Most importantly this book presents a clear imperative to become an active participant for our own and collective well-being.

What is so compelling about Active Consciousness is that it is written with the rigor of a scientific thinker with the warmth and craft of a good storyteller. The author's intimate experiences are woven throughout the book, giving us a glimpse into the intriguing road she has traveled, which often crosses the line between the scientific and the esoteric. Wonderfully complex and controversial ideas are presented with artful elegance and simplicity.

The book also offers many cogent diagrams and details that help the reader make the leap from what is known in our physical universe to what is unseen and clearly present all around us. I highly recommend this book.

Glynn Stewart's writing style continues to progress and mature with each novel. I have found the Castle Federation series (Avalon) to be an enjoyable read throughout. If you have read the first two books in this series you should enjoy this one as well. I would highly recommend reading them in order, as there are important details about the characters which are developed more thoroughly in those earlier books, and only touched upon here.

With this third novel in the series, Stewart seems to have turned his focus more toward military strategy and tactics, and less about continued character development. He continues the theme of two warring factions in human space: the protagonist Federation as the smaller "breakaway" nation, fighting the larger, antagonistic Earth-centric Commonwealth. The storyline continues to focus on the captain and crew of the Federation carrier Avalon, which is now playing a larger role as part of a fleet assigned to take the war back to the Commonwealth.

It is an excellent space combat novel, without becoming too technical for the average sf reader. Fleet tactics and complex battles involving more ships are the main focus now. The action is engaging. I read the novel in one long sitting because I found it very difficult to put down :-)

Having said all this, I am giving it four stars instead of five, as I feel that that the characters and human elements in this story are not as well thought out as before. It is as if Stewart felt that the people were already well known enough to the reader, and no further explanations were necessary. Each character continues to act exactly as predicted by the background laid down in the previous novels. Everything new in this story revolves around the combat. I found this a bit unsatisfying, because one of the reasons I have so thoroughly enjoyed Stewart's writing in earlier novels (especially The Stellar Fox and Starship's Mage) was how interestingly the characters develop and grow during the course of the story.

However, this is a minor flaw in an otherwise excellent novel, and I can't wait for the next installment!

I normally do not write reviews. I should write more as I read 3 to 5 books a week. That being said this series was excellent. I have not had a series of books in a very long time that I simply could not put down.

The science was interesting. The Story was outstanding. The characters drew me in and kept me intrigued. For the first time in many years I was emotionally sad when one particular character died (since I really didnt see it coming) and that says a lot to me about this series.

Glynn Stewart you sir have now become my "favorite" author after this series. I hope you write many many more books in this series. It is outstanding.

Thank you very much for the entertainment this series provided me.

Mixed Feelings on this one

I enjoy Glynn Stewart's books, but this one's plot seemed a little contrived and as well as the crew knew it's Captain, should never have stood back and not questioned the Captain's behavior. Undermined the enjoyment for the story for me. Still not a bad read, probably better for someone not familiar with the writer's works.

First published in Latin in 1516, Thomas More's Utopia is one of the most influential books in the Western philosophical and literary tradition and one of the supreme achievements of Renaissance humanism. This is the first edition of Utopia since 1965 (the Yale edition) to combine More's Latin text with an English translation, and also the first edition to provide a Latin text that is at once accurate and readable. The text is based on the early editions (with the Froben edition of March 1518 as copy-text), but spelling and punctuation have been regularised in accordance with modern practices. The translation is a revised version of the acclaimed Adams translation, which also appears in Cambridge Texts in the History of Political Thought. The edition, which incorporates the results of recent Utopian scholarship, includes an introduction, textual apparatus, a full commentary and a guide to the voluminous scholarly and critical literature on Utopia.

Absolute Power corrupts.....

What an excellent book. I heard the unabridged version of this on 13 cassettes and it was a fabulous read - one where the amounts of money stolen by the Marcos' from the Phillipines are so atrocious, that halfway through the book I started to lose sense and magnitude of billions of dollars and 1000's of tonnes of gold. I still came out wondering how could a person so untiringly loot his people and how much really is enough? Well and truly an Asian story of lost opportunity and time.

It could be said that Marcos was before my time. What I knew about him I gleaned as a high school student from watching late night comedy shows featuring quips about Mrs. Marcos (Imelda) and her vast collection of shoes. Cue the applause sign. In my twenties, I got a chance to visit the Philippines and thought I'd bone up on that frequently overlooked country, and that is how I stumbled on this book. There wasn't much applauding. Nor did I laugh. Not even once.

The rise and fall of the Marcos dynasty is a fascinating tale; a jaw-dropping account of how incredibly - nay, impossibly - black and deceptive the human heart can be. After coming to power illegaly, Marcos and his entourage of cronies and sycophants spent two decades robbing the struggling Pacific republic absolutely blind. During his reign, the Philippines became a major international player in just about every illicit activity under the sun, i.e. drug running, illegal arms sales, and especially child prostitution. While the underground economy boomed everything else simply ground to a halt and the people languished in poverty and even starvation. Riding on the back of the misery, authoritarianism, and insitutionalized corruption that he helped engender, Ferdinand Marcos became - wait for it - the richest man in all of Asia. Think about that for a moment. And here's the kicker: the US government was his biggest supporter. Indeed, the US would have courted the devil himself in order to garner "moral" and military support for Vietnam and with Marcos they came darned close.

Seagrave is an adept narrator and and an expert researcher. From Marcos's rise as a Japanese collaborator to his expulsion under People Power, the author takes us on a dizzying if not mind boggling adventure. This is an excellent read.

Band Nerds Unite! No, really.... Shannyn Schroeder has done it to me again! His New Jam is the 5th novel in Ms. Schroeder's Hot & Nerdy series. It is full length, has an HEA and no cliffhanger. It is told from a first person POV between the two main characters. It can be read as a standalone, but for optimal enjoyment with the last three books in this series, I would suggest starting with the fourth book. They all interconnect without actually needing to be read to understand them, it just makes it more fun if you do!

I loved this story from the get go. Was in I band? Yes! Was I in marching band? No. However, the writing, and the story line within are engrossing. You get pulled into the world, and it will make sense for you.

One of my favorite things about this book? How Hunter and Sydney meet. I was beyond amused and laughing at Hunter's antics. This guy is full on trying to get one particular girl's attention and he doesn't give up about it. He's been trying for awhile too!

The chemistry between the pair simmered, but it's no so overt that that you lose the story to just that. They completely clash at first. Sydney wants nothing to do with Hunter. It's sort of a tug-of-war between them, a back-and-forth. Hunter wanting Sydney's attention, Sydney alternatively just wanting him to go away.

You'll also come to enjoy the co-characters within this book and want to learn about them. Which is great, because they have their own books!

Overall, it's a great read, that isn't too long. Engaging characters with a fun story line, and parts that will have you laughing out loud. It will also have you wanting to know how it ends. I've given it a full 5 stars.

Shannyn Schroeder has another awesome addition to her hot and nerdy series. This is the fifth book in the series and overlaps with His Work of Art (book 4). This story is about how Hunter and Sydney find their way to each other. Sydney is a talented percussionist who frustrated by sexism in the marching band. Hunter, who plays saxophone, tries to flirt with her by playing different songs while she enters or leaves the field during practice. Sydney knows he a player, but she mostly ignores him and keeps her head down. At the end of the marching season, Hunter manages to get a reaction from Sydney that their friendship/relationship progresses from their. Sydney is wary of romance and make Hunter work for her attention. Will he be able to convince her to give him a chance to be more than band mates?

This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite new adult series. Ms. Schroeder is able to create complex realistic characters that are fun to read about. I have read at least one of the previous books, and was able to see the same event from a different perspective. I loved the characters, the music and almost everything about this book. 3.5 out of 5 stars, Sydney has dealt with a difficult dating experience and knows that she never wants to be with a man who will treat her that way again. So, when Hunter, a college senior and lead saxophonist in the marching band, singles her out and majorly flirts with her it makes her leery. She thinks he's hot and as they get to know one another better through their love of music she trusts him better, yet Hunter seems too much like her ex-boyfriend. And Hunter will do whatever it takes to prove to her that he is the man for her!

This sweetly erotic novel keeps you on your toes with its quirky characters and fast paced plotline. I was intrigued with Hunter with how he goes about winning over Sydney’s affection one serenade at a time. In addition, I liked how they came together as a couple. Nevertheless, I wish Sydney’s POV wasn’t portrayed as harsh as it was and that the ending had an epilogue.

Overall, I do recommend this novel to those looking for a quirky New Year’s Celebration New Adult contemporary romance!
