Great plastic snap-fit design guideline

This book is a very good reference for designing plastic snap-fit features. It discusses snap fit mechanisms, locators, locating schemes and overconstraints, design-for-assembly, and the snap-fit function from the end user point-of-view. It includes formula for calculating all of the important functions I wanted to predict in a design. It goes through a logical design sequence to create a snap-fit design that works in your particular application and identifies what you should and should NOT do. Some things were trivial for plastic design, others were not obvious and had not occurred to the design teams in which I have participated.
After reading this book I immediately recognized poor snap-fit designs on products I have worked with for years. A mechanical analysis of an optimized snap-fit based on this book showed how these concepts would have helped tremendously in the initial product design phase. I will certainly use this book in all my future snap-fit designs.

Author Clarifies

Potential readers should take advantage of this site's feature that lets you review this book's Table of Contents and Introduction. As is clearly explained in the "Introduction" and "Reader Expectations" Sections, this book is not just about equations for snap feature behavior. There are indeed many sources for feature behavior calculations; some are provided in the book. This book is useful if you want to understand a snap-fit attachment as a system in order to avoid many common errors. Many of these errors are trivial, but they are repeated again and again in all kinds of plastic products. My personal experience is that the root causes of most snap-fit attachment problems are neither prevented nor resolved by simply calculating feature behavior and a 'systems' approach is essential. To post this message, I must rate my own book; this is not an attempt to bias the ratings.

Too much self-evident things

First I must say that this book is not for snap-fit calculation, it is about snap-fir consepts. So it helps a lot in designing snap-fit as a whole (locators, guides etc). Not so helpful if you just have to design and calculate special snap-fit feature.

Good book for beginners but it repeats too much too simple things -> too much "fluffy" pages, less pages would be better better

I would give 3 stars. This obviusly is not 5 star book, altough I would recommend this book if you are going to design more than one snap fitting.

A great book for couples or singles

Patricia Taylor has written a must-read book for everyone looking to take their intimacy to the next level. Not just a book of sex tips (although you'll find those too!), this work will teach you how to communicate with your partner to heighten your trust and connection and to really get to know what makes one another tick. This is a great resource for couples to share together, but I also recommend it for singles to read so that they can bring their advanced lovemaking skills and confidence in their sexuality into their next relationships or fun casual encounters. It's a fun read with plenty of suggested activities and checklists. Highly recommend.

I really love this book about giving and recieving Expanded Orgasm.

This is more than about expanded orgasm

I have read the book from start to finish - and now I am re-reading it with my husband of 45 years. We have had a busy life and now we want to rekindle our marriage. It is helping me to express myself to my husband in way I have never done before.

What I like most is how we are learning to communicate with each other by following the activities. I was not sure if my husband was going to go along with this program but to my surprise he is for it. We will be going on our first Sandbox date this weekend and both of us are looking forward to the experience. Have all the questions answered in our Journals for the first date.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is married and wants to expand there relations, communications and sex with the their love one. This would be for any age - my husband and I are 67 but we both feel this was a book we could have used in our forties or before.

Happy little summer girl

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter for her birthday. She's enjoyed being able to learn songs that she hears at church. I know she would have appreciated a slightly larger print, she is working through them quickly!

Before becoming an author, Colin Bennett was a Managing Director and Head of Quantitative and Derivative Strategy at Banco Santander, Head of Delta 1 Research at Barclays Capital, and Head of Convertible and Derivative Research at Dresdner Kleinwort. Colin started his career in Convertible Bond Research at Merrill Lynch, after studying Mathematics and Electrical Engineering at Cambridge University. In the 1993 National Mathematics Contest Colin came 16th in the UK. He has also worked in Equity Derivative Sales, and as a Desk Analyst for the equity derivative trading desk. Colin is a regular speaker at CBOE, Eurex, Marcus Evans, Futures and Option World, Risk Magazine and Bloomberg conferences.

Great at Balancing the Theoretical with the Practical!

I applaud Colin's effort in taking very complex and misunderstood concepts and making them both easier to understand while making them vaguely interesting! This book really filled a need in the options education void where there is an over-emphasis on making money instead of the deep amount of theoreticals that - by extension - will help the trader/risk-manager to avoid the most common mistakes made by professionals and day-traders alike. I thoroughly enjoyed Colin's confidence and thorough understanding. The book does a GREAT job at balancing the theoretical with the practical. I place this book up with Taleb's "Dynamic Hedging" book!

best guide to equity derivatives

Certainly the best comprehensive book about derivatives every written. I work as an equity derivatives sales person and when I started 3 different people (who did not know each other) heavily advised to read this book. to say it is the best guide to derivatives is to say nothing really. It goes into in depth concepts and approaches the topic from every angle. If you want to go from zero to hero in understanding derivatives then this book is your guide for dummies that starts easy and takes you to an sophisticated level. I would really recommend it. Absolute 5 stars!
