I must say if you read one Dr.Ben book you read them all. However the African Origins of Major Western Religion is on of Dr.Ben's greatest works. Dr.Ben explains the ideologies of Christianity,Islam, and Judism confronting the fact that all of these religions are based on African Spiritual concepts. He shows in an easy to understand manner the stolen concepts that europeans have used for their imperilistic benefit. This book will make you question why it is you believe what you believe as well as where do you stand as a human being in the universe. I highly recommend this book to all students of African history, and Religious concepts.

Another classical researched body of work by DR. Yosef ben Yochannan. he deals with the early african origins of judaism (hebrew faith) Christianity and islam. He shows how the ten commandments were extracted from the 147 confessions so called "negative confessions" as well as african folklore nad mythology that went into the making of these so called "western religion" he deals with early african character who played critical roles in the early development of "judaism", christianity and islam. such characters as st. Cyprian, Tertullian, St. Augustine. Bilal ibn rabah, Al-jahiz and Ibrahim al Mahdi. this work is in depth and well researched. it should be read by all, but of course only by some.

A THOUGHT-PROVOKING, CHALLENGING (IF CONTROVERSIAL) THESIS

Yosef A.A. (Alfredo Antonio) Ben-Jochannan (born 1918 in Ethiopia; known simply as "Dr. Ben" to his students and readers) is an American historian specializing in Africa.

He writes in the Introduction to this 1970 book (reprinted in 1991), "(T)he main purpose of this work is to show that there is another phase to the greatness that is still 'MOTHER AFRICA,' the MOTHER OF MANKIND, a sort of 'GARDEN OF EDEN,' also to provide another perspective in Africa's major contribution to world civilization which may well assist in rearranging the present and future tenets of religious thought."

"I shall show that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are as much African as they are Asian in origin, and in no sense what-so-ever European as the title, 'Western Religions' suggests..." (Pg. vi)

It covers everything a psy101 student has to know, but there are better books out there!

The book itself is not too bad, I personally love SAGE PUB books, but do yourself a favor and don't buy the ebook version on Amazon. The kindle version has some of the worst book formatting I've ever seen; tables that would easily fit on one page are cut in half and printed over two pages, so you have to constantly switch back and forth between pages...

Edit:
I got a refund from Amazon, and purchased the ebook from the official SAGE PUB reseller, whose version was flawless; hopefully Amazon has by now updated and improves their kindle version of this book.
After reading the book I can say that it is very informative, however I found it very dry and quite boring , one could argue that this is due to the fact that obligatory biological psychology courses generally aren't too loved by psychology students, however after I found another biological psychology book, which I used as an alternative I can say that it's mostly Barnes that failed to make his book interesting.
One thing, however, that is always a big plus for me, is that this book as a online learn center (http://www.uk.sagepub.com/barnes/study/default.htm) , where you can find multiple choice tests and journal articles related to this book, which is always a good study help.

Best VB book out there!

For the price, this book is incredible! If you are a beginner or an intermediate to VB, this book is it. I bought this book three weeks ago, read up to the 26th chapter out of 34 and I am now already writing complex code for a satellite corporation. I'm using Class Modules, ADO objects, and communicating with MS Access for data storage. Excellent book, as Sheriff goes through the material with short, but concise chapters using good code examples. He lets you know what you should and should not do in current and future code development. Excellent examples in using ADO with SQL or MS Access. Only one thing he could improve upon is using and passing arrays which I had to experiment for myself, but again the best book I've seen in VB to date.

Amongst the best of hand-holding/reference VB books

I am a programmer/consultant in another language and have purchased many programming books over the years. In the VB world (as other languages) I've encountered difficult to understand authorship in many of the books out there.
Paul Sheriff's style is not only easy to understand, but the material gets to the heart of the matter in each topic with excellent examples. This book is for all levels of VB programmers as it can be used as a beginners book, yet as a good reference book for more advanced programmers. You don't need the index cards with this one.
Hat's off to this one! It's about time! (No, I'm not one of Paul's friends :)

Starting VB6 programming? Pick this up !!!

First, the PROs: This is an excellent book for any persong wishing to learn the basics of VB6 programming. It starts up with the basics, such as forms, controls, programming logic, etc. Then as you read on, the complexity of code increases. Each chapter builds on previous one, introducing the reader to new ways of programming. By the time you reach section II, you have a good understanding of basic programming principles (that is if you follow all exercises, and create few additional ones to practice new concepts). This book touches briefly on classes and object development (but this is a beginners book after all). ADO programming includes some very useful information for the new VB6 students. Overall, this is a pretty good tutorial style book.
Now, the CONs: The writer's style seemed to change a couple of times. Most of part I was an excellent guide to VB6 programming. I had a problem with several chapters (expecially in the 2nd section). It looked like the author did not pay as much attention to teaching. Mr. Sheriff talked about a new topic without serious attempts to clarify via example demonstrations. It seemed to me almost as if these chapters were written by another person. Other than that, I was really satisfied with the book, and would recommend it to others. If you want the basics (including good instruction on proper coding standards), this is the book you should invest in.

PanterA is the best metal band from this side of Texas. This band knows how to bring pure metal music back to life. Dimebag, Vinnie, Rex and Phil are 101% pure speed and energy. Pantera is not to be compaired to any other band out their. I wish that their were alot more bands that played music because they loved what they do and not for the money and plubicity.

Another good value for the money.

I've used a couple of books from this series to shore up my CCIE weak points. Perfect for focused studies.

I personally picked up more from the IPv6 book than this book, mainly because I am weaker at IPv6 than switching. Still, it is a good option for focused studies on switching. I may not get the entire series, but I plan to get more books.

There are not many CCIE books out there that are current and reasonably priced. At about $0.01 per page, it is hard to beat.

Copy I have is for CCIEv4. Look forward to the CCIEv5 version.
